Frequently Asked Questions
-
What type of surgeries does Elite Surgical cover? While we are excited to work in the field of robotic surgery, we also assist in laparoscopic and traditional procedures in most specialties.
-
Who are your assistants? Our surgical assistants are Registered Nurse First Assists, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Physicians.
-
How do I schedule an assistant?Contact Elite Surgical by email or phone. Our assistants work throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area. For regular clients, block scheduling is available and encouraged.
-
May I choose an assistant?A surgeon may request specific assistants for cases. Please know we will accommodate these requests as much as possible. Occasionally a substitute assist with appropriate skills may be used if the requested provider is booked, ill, or in another case. We believe that fostering relationships with surgeon/assistants is the best way to maintain standards of care and happy staff, which ultimately produce better patient outcomes.
-
How much notice to schedule?Early scheduling assures you coverage for cases as far in advance as you need. Many of our assistants have block time with surgeons and we know our schedules in advance. Last minute bookings from physician offices can often be accommodated, so please call to check availability.
-
What are the long/short term needs?Consistency improves outcomes and patient care and we prefer long-term relationships with our surgeons. However, your needs may be different and occasional help may be required of us. Contact us if you need surgical coverage for case overflow, maternity leave, vacations etc.
-
What are the billing requirements? As non-physician providers, our billing codes must exactly match those of the physician. Our billing office will contact your office to obtain codes for procedures. We will need timely responses to these requests. We do our own billing but may occasionally need additional documentation from your office such as operative notes or medical records.
-
What is the cost to physician? Our assistants submit claims to the patient’s insurance company through our billing department for payment for cases. Physicians may be asked to supplement the assistant’s pay, depending on the insurance company or if the patient is uninsured. These fees are reasonable and will be negotiated with the surgeon’s office prior to scheduling an assistant.
